BURLINGTON TOWNSHIP, NJ - On Friday July 15, 2016, The Burlington Twp. Police Department, Burlington Twp. Fire Department and Endeavor Emergency Squad concluded our first ever joint Youth Police, Fire and EMS Academy. The week-long academy was open to children ages 8-13, and it included several hours of hands-on instruction and demonstrations that covered the following:
- Drill/Marching
- Drug Awareness
- K-9 Demonstrations
- Vehicle Extrications
- Fire Safety
- Helicopter Landings
- CPR
- First Aid
- Gun Safety
- Courtroom Procedures
- Safety with Strangers
Public Safety Director Bruce Painter views this academy as a great way for the children of our community to interact with their emergency responders in a fun, positive atmosphere. Our hope is that we can build upon these interactions in order to foster better community engagement. We also hope that these experiences will encourage our children to consider entering the emergency services field as they get older.
The Burlington Township Police Department would like to thank the Burlington Township Fire Department as well as the Endeavor Emergency Squad for partnering with us on this initiative. In addition, we’d like to thank the Burlington Township School District for providing their facilities and transportation services for all the children.
