BURLINGTON TOWNSHIP, NJ – On August 23, 2017, the Burlington Township Police Department took a report of check fraud from a local business, American Nutritional Laboratories on Elbow Lane. A representative of the business indicated that one of their business checks was altered and deposited into an unauthorized account.
Further investigation revealed that Michael Traupman, 40 year old male form Bordentown, NJ, illegally came into possession of the check, altered it, and fraudulently deposited into his personal account. Therefore, detectives obtained a warrant for Traupman’s arrest and took him into custody on October 27, 2017.
At the time of his arrest, Traupman was in possession of several additional illegally obtained checks, numerous photocopies of credit cards, and photocopies of personal driver licenses. Detectives discovered that Traupman obtained these items while working at various area hotels, and they further discovered that he used these items to illegally purchase items online and have them shipped to local UPS stores.
Traupman was charged with check fraud, and he was lodged in the Burlington County Detention Center after his arrest.
Detectives are making efforts to locate all victims from Traupman’s crime spree. Therefore, please contact Det. Scott Carey at 609-239-5889 or scarey69@burltwppd.com if you believe you may have been victimized.
