5/10/2018 - 12 Year Old Male Drowns in Sylvan Lake
BURLINGTON TOWNSHIP, NJ – At approximately 4:49 PM on Thursday, May 10, 2018, the Burlington Township Police Department responded to Sylvan Lake located at the intersection of Lake Avenue and 14th Street for a report of a juvenile who may be drowning.
Upon arrival, officers discovered that the 12 year old male from Burlington City, NJ was at the lake with friends when he jumped into the water but ultimately did not surface. Several police officers, fire personnel and EMS personnel immediately entered the lake in an attempt to locate and rescue the juvenile with no success. The juvenile’s body was eventually recovered by members from the NJSP TEAMS Unit at approximately 7:46 PM.
There are no suspicions of foul play.
