8/17/2018 - Beneficial Bank Robbed, Suspect Apprehended

BURLINGTON TOWNSHIP, NJ – At approximately 9:20 AM on Wednesday, August 15, 2018, the Burlington Township Police Department responded to the Beneficial Bank located at the intersection of Mount Holly Road and Sunset Road for a report of a robbery.  Upon arrival, officers discovered that the suspect, Myron S. James (63 year old male Willingboro, NJ), entered the bank, passed a note to one of the teller’s in which he claimed to have a gun, then exited upon being given cash.  There were no altercations and no weapon was actually displayed.

Detectives were able to obtain images of James and his getaway vehicle from video surveillance systems at the bank and surrounding businesses, and this information was provided to surrounding jurisdictions.  On August 16, 2018, officers located James and his getaway vehicle at a residence in the 100 block of New Castle Lane in Willingboro, NJ.  James was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Burlington Township Police station.  He has been charged with robbery and terroristic threats, and he is currently detained in the Burlington County Jail.

James was located and arrested with the assistance of the Westampton Township Police Department, the Willingboro Township Police Department, and the FBI Greater Trenton Safe Streets Task Force.
