8/12/2016 - BTPD Apprehends Serial Commercial Theft Suspect

– On Friday, August 12, 2016, the Burlington Township Police Department arrested Chad Griffin, a 25 year old Chatsworth, NJ resident, and charged him with four counts of theft and four counts of criminal trespass.

The arrest was the result of a lengthy investigation into four thefts that occurred at Johnson’s Towing on Elbow Lane in Burlington Township, NJ between July 28, 2016 and August 11, 2016. In each of those thefts, Griffin entered the property after the business was closed and stole several items that he later scrapped for profit. Those items included rims, radiators, aluminum tanks and batteries. Griffin was captured on surveillance video during his last theft and was identified with the assistance of the Delran Police Department.

The Burlington Township Police Department would like to thank the Delran Police Department as well as the New Jersey State Police Red Lion Station for the assistance they provided during this investigation. Griffin was lodged in the Burlington County Jail in default of $44,000 bail.
